Form / Shape: Narrow, rounded, open canopy Drought Tolerance: High
Flower / Fruit: Gray-brown male; gray-green female flower matures to gray-brown acorn; blooms in Spring; acorns 1" long by 3/4" wide Soil: Well drained, moist, fertile, humus rich, slightly acidic to slightly alkaline soil; found in areas with infrequent flooding
Foliage: Alternate, simple, oblong, six to eight pairs of ascending lobes; dark green leaves turn brilliant red to reddish orange in the Fall Light: Full sun; tolerates part shade
Bark:  Smooth, gray-brown matures to gray, scaly ridges with dark fissures and tan inner bark Pruning: To develop strong structure; less pruning is necessary
  Uses: Large parking lots, lawn tree, buffer strips, shade
