Form / Shape: Rounded silhouette with large diameter branches Drought Tolerance: Moderate
Flower / Fruit: Brown male; greenish tan female flower; inconspicuous; blooms in Spring; Acorns with large rough cup almost covering nut, acorns are ovate to flatten 1 to   1 1/2" long and wide Soil: Well drained, moist, fertile, humus rich; found growing in areas with infrequent flooding
Foliage: Alternate, simple, leather; dark green leaves turn copper brown in Fall Light: Full sun; tolerates partial shade
Bark:  Rough, red or gray brown Pruning: Maintain central leader; to remove low hanging limbs
  Uses: Parking lot islands, lawn tree, buffer strips around parking lots, shade tree or residential street tree
