Foliage: Alternate, simple, broadly ovate with finely serrated leaf margin; green to glossy, dark green leaves turn red to purple in Fall Light: Full sun; tolerates part shade but will reduce flowering
Bark:  Smooth, dark gray to black Pruning: To maintain central leader; to develop a strong limb and trunk structure
